New Infrared Laser Diode for Life Science applications

Ushio has released the HL78002MG, a high-performance infrared laser diode designed for life science applications. With an optical output power of 200mW, a wavelength of 785nm and a focus on high reliability and superior beam quality, this laser diode is poised to meet the stringent demands of fields such as Raman spectroscopy and indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence imaging in medical applications.

The HL78002MG is an infrared laser diode that combines high optical output power with excellent beam quality and long operational life. It maximises Ushio’s cutting-edge technology to offer stable, long-term operation in a compact 5.6 mm φ package, operating efficiently even at high temperatures of up to 75°C. The built-in monitor photodiode ensures stable operation with constant optical output power, making it an ideal solution for high-precision analysis of microscopic samples in Raman spectroscopy and enhancing the performance and reliability of medical instruments.

Raman spectroscopy is a widely used non-destructive method for analysing molecular structures and chemical compositions. It has broad applications across medicine, pharmaceuticals, materials science and environmental monitoring. The technology requires light sources with high sensitivity and accuracy to ensure precise detection.
